Shanee’s Blend: The Story
Sometimes in our work, we work with learners who, for whatever reason, simply cannot progress to paid employment. In this instance, we offer them the opportunity to develop their own blend, who we will then provide a percentage of the sale price to permanently. One example of this is Shanee’s Blend.
Shanee is a bright and warm individual working towards greater independence, especially with the long-term goal of living on her own. She has strong understanding and excellent retention, and although she sometimes second-guesses herself, she is learning to view mistakes as a natural part of developing her skills. She is steadily building her confidence and, although she still relies on her guardians at times, she has the initiative and potential to become increasingly independent with steady, encouraging support.
She loves Harry Potter, learning about coffee, cooking and basketball. Throughout her time with us, she has been articulate, communicative, and caring, and she consistently brings an uplifting presence to the team, even when she’s managing her own anxieties or challenges.

COFFEE
We stock a range of beans which we buy every year from farmers we’ve worked with for decades. We also curate rare and interesting coffees that we change seasonally, sharing the crop with some of our other roaster friends in the industry.
By working with us you’re joining this network of amazing roasteries and getting access to competition grade filters.
Our staple espresso option is a biannual harvest single origin which we source from Recreio Farm in the countryside just north of São Paulo.
This means it tastes consistently brilliant all year round, with a roast profile we’ve perfected over the years that allows a talented barista to bring out the creamy chocolate notes in a milk-based drink, or the sweet complex flavours in an espresso.

EQUIPMENT
We offer equipment from all of the best coffee machine manufacturers at competitive prices.
We don’t just sell you a machine – we take care of the service contract as part of the sale, making sure that it works for your business. We can also offer repairs and services to your existing equipment.
Because we have our own shops, you can come and see the machines we sell in action and play with them in a real shop setting, rather than just leafing through a catalogue.
As a nonprofit, we aren’t just trying to make a sale – we’ll always guide you through the process and help you make the best decision for your business.

EXPERTISE
We are training specialists – our company exists to help train people how to be some of the best baristas in the industry. Working with us gives you access not just to our AST network, trainers accredited by the SCA, but we also provide unique training and support to your wider organisation.
This includes access to our coveted discussion groups with other owner/operators, and invitations to our monthly networking events. We are also happy to offer tickets to industry events such as London Coffee Festival.
Manager and owner-specific training courses are included when you work with us, or you can book our courses separately.
